Louisiana Aviaiton System Plan (LASP) Overview

The state’s system of 69 airports, consisting of seven commercial service airports and 62 general aviation airports provides reliable access to 93 percent of Louisiana Residents.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has developed the Louisiana Aviation System Plan (LASP) for the purpose of guiding the state’s airport planning activities. Airports in Louisiana are major economic catalysts for the state and for the communities they serve. They support vital transportation services for all citizens in Louisiana, whether they use the air transportation system directly, or benefit indirectly through the delivery of packages and goods, visits from family and friends, or an improved quality of life.

The LASP is a component of the Louisiana Statewide Transportation Plan which looks back at how the transportation system has evolved and considers, in a broad sense, how the system should evolve to meet changing infrastructure needs for all modes – aviation, port, rail, transit, and navigable waterway – in the years ahead.
