LeBas, P.E., along with state and local officials, celebrated the opening of six lanes of traffic on I-10 between Siegen Lane and Highland Road in Baton Rouge. The $60 million construction initiative widened I-10 from four to six travel lanes, and included work on bridges and overpasses at the Kansas City Southern Railroad and Highland Road.

JEFFERSON, La. The $1.2 billion widening of the Huey P. Long Bridge in New Orleans was completed today approximately four months ahead of schedule and under budget. Expansion of the 1930s era bridge began in April 2006 shortly after Hurricane Katrina and is the largest transportation construction project in the history of Louisiana.

Today, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces the start of construction on a $10.5 million road preservation project in Plaquemines Parish at La. 23 from Ravenna Road to South Orange Lane. The project will raise the roadway by approximately two feet in areas most prone to flooding and resurface over 5.6 miles of existing roadway.

<description>BATON ROUGE Today, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that LA Swift, a primarily federally funded bus service between New Orleans and Baton Rouge that was initiated after Hurricane Katrina, will cease operations on June 30, 2013 when the federal funding for the program ends. The program was created as a temporary option for affected citizens to travel between New Orleans and Baton Rouge as they recovered from Hurricane Katrina.
