LA 3087 Prospect Bridge Project
State Proj. No.: 065-91-0016
Start date: May 24, 2010
Finish date: June 2012
Cost: $26.7 million
Contractor: James Construction Company
This $26.7 million project will replace the existing two-lane lift span bridge on La. 3087 over Bayou Terrebonne with a new six-lane vertical lift span bridge.
It will also involve widening portions of La. 24 (Main Street) and La. 3087 (Prospect Street). The widening will accommodate the new bridge configuration. Main Street and Prospect St. will also be elevated nearly 7 feet at their intersection to provide level approaches to the new bridge.
Additional widening details:
- La. 24 –widened to 6 lanes approximately 300 feet east of intersection
- La. 24 –widened to 6 lanes approximately 600 feet west of intersection
- La. 3087 –widened to 5 lanes approximately 400 feet south of intersection
- La. 3087 –widened to 6 lanes between the bridge and La. 659
The new bridge and widened intersections will help to relieve congestion on this heavily traveled bridge. Over 18,000 drivers cross this bridge each day.
Detours: Howard Street Bridge (LA 661) and Daigleville Bridge (LA 57) to the north and LA 24 Bridge to the south.
