The La. 16 widening project is approximately 2 miles long, from Denham Springs to Watson. This stretch of highway currently serves almost 25,000 vehicles per day.

The new roadway will have four lanes. There will be two through lanes in each direction separated by a raised median. The new lanes will be 12 feet wide with a 10-foot outside shoulder and 6-foot inside shoulder.

This is the first capacity project being constructed using surplus funds obtained from the 2007 Legislative Session.
