State Proj. No.: 034-06-0046
Start date: February 17, 2010
Finish date: July 2011
Cost: $5.5 million
Contractor: Jensen Construction Company
The Grand Ecore Bridge project will re-deck the La. 6 / U.S. 84 Bridge crossing the Red River. This project will replace the existing 6-inch-thick concrete deck with a new 7.5-inch-thick concrete deck. When complete, the bridge will consist of two 12-foot lanes with 2-foot shoulders.
During the majority of this project, traffic crossing the bridge will be limited to one lane. Temporary traffic signals on each side will control the flow of traffic across the bridge.
During the construction process, the contractor may need to completely close the bridge for night construction. If necessary, the bridge may be completely closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. In the event of a total road closure, the contractor will notify local media, post closure information on the electronic message boards leading up to the bridge, update the project Web site, and send e-mails to those signed up for e-mail updates. During these complete closures, traffic will have to detour to Coushatta to cross the Red River.
For drivers on the east side of Grand Ecore: take La. 486 to U.S. 71 to Coushatta.
For drivers on the west side of Grand Ecore: take La. 1 directly to Coushatta.
