​​Alternatives Public Meeting

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) in coordination with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission (RPC) and the railroads operating in the New Orleans metropolitan area are conducting a Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study to evaluate the feasibility of consolidating the Union Pacific (UP)/Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) roadway-rail at-grade crossings at Live Oak Boulevard, Willswood Lane, George Street and Avondale Garden Road and replacing them with one, or possibly more, road-over-rail grade separations.

An Open House Public Meeting will be held on April 16, 2024, and will consist of a repeating recorded presentation of the alternatives developed; meeting exhibits for viewing, and the opportunity to speak with Study Team Representatives, solicit comments and be added to the study distribution list to receive future notices. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.

Comments

Comments will be available at the meeting, can be submitted by completing the On-line Comment Form​ or by downloading the Printable Comment Form​ and mailing it to the address shown on the form or submitting it via email to NORG@mbakerintl.com. Emailed forms should indicate “NORG Avondale PEL Study Public Scoping Meeting Comment Form” as the Subject.

Comment Forms received at the meeting, submitted on-line or post-marked/emailed no later than April 30, 2024 will be included in the public record.
